🛂 Romanian Student Visa

If you have been accepted to a Romanian university and are a non-EU/EEA student, obtaining a student visa is the next essential step.
Below you will find a detailed list of the required documents for both the visa application and residence permit once in Romania.


đź“‹ Required Documents for Student Visa (before arriving in Romania):

  1. Letter of acceptance from the Romanian Ministry of Education;

  2. Proof of tuition fees payment for one year (payment must be made after receiving the acceptance letter and transferred to the university’s official bank account);

  3. Proof of sufficient means of support for the entire period specified in the visa (approximately 2,500 Euros);

  4. Criminal record certificate or another document of the same legal value;

  5. Medical insurance for the entire period of visa validity;

  6. Parental or guardian approval regarding the minor’s stay in Romania (only if the applicant is a minor);

  7. 📌 Visa applications must be submitted only to Romanian diplomatic missions or consular posts abroad.


🏠 Residence Permit in Romania (after arrival)

Once you enter Romania, you must apply for a residence permit at the local Immigration Office. Prepare the following documents:

  1. Standard application (from the immigration office);

  2. Proof of tuition fee payment issued by your Romanian university;

  3. Copy of the letter of acceptance for studies issued by the Ministry of Education;

  4. Medical certificate issued by a public or private medical institution in Romania, confirming that the student does not suffer from diseases that endanger public health;

  5. Proof of medical insurance (mandatory for those above 26 years old);

  6. House contract – a rental agreement signed with the landlord and authenticated by a public notary;

  7. Passport bio data page and the page showing the date of entry into Romania;

  8. Bank statement proving means of living for at least one year (minimum 2,500 USD or equivalent);

  9. Two recent passport-sized photographs;

  10. A file with rail (physical folder to hold documents);

  11. Receipt of taxes paid at a Romanian CEC Bank (attached to your file).
